Our current practices

How information is handled

These are the main ways information may be processed through StackEvidence's currently identified website and communication systems.

Website activity

Infrastructure providers may process technical request details to deliver, protect, and maintain the website.

Website analytics

Cloudflare provides website traffic and performance measurements. Its Web Analytics beacon does not rely on analytics cookies to follow users across websites.

Direct correspondence

If you email us, we may receive and retain your message and relevant contact details to respond to your inquiry.

This Privacy Policy describes StackEvidence's current information-handling practices. It applies to visitors of stackevidence.com and people who communicate with us about our research or business.

1. About StackEvidence

StackEvidence is an independent software research and comparison publication operated by an individual sole proprietor based in Minnesota, United States.

We publish educational resources, product research, pricing analysis, comparisons, and other information intended to help readers evaluate software and online-business services.

For privacy-related questions or requests, you can contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide voluntarily

When you contact StackEvidence by email, we may receive information you choose to provide, including:

  • Your name and email address;
  • The subject and contents of your message;
  • Files or other information you voluntarily attach;
  • Relevant correspondence and communication history.

We use this information to respond to questions, evaluate correction requests, address business inquiries, and maintain relevant records.

Our currently published contact method uses email links rather than an on-site contact submission form.

Technical website information

When you visit StackEvidence, our website infrastructure and security providers may process technical information such as:

  • IP addresses and network connection information;
  • Approximate geographic information derived from network data;
  • Browser, device, and operating-system characteristics;
  • Requested pages, resources, and referring addresses;
  • Request timestamps and response information;
  • Website security, performance, and diagnostic events.

The specific information processed depends on the service and technical circumstances.

3. Website Infrastructure and Analytics

PageBuilder / Scale

StackEvidence uses PageBuilder/Scale website publishing infrastructure to present and deliver website content.

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for website delivery, caching, network security, infrastructure performance, and related technical services.

Cloudflare may process website requests and related technical information to provide these services, including detecting suspicious traffic and helping protect the website.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Real User Measurements (RUM) to understand website usage and technical performance.

Cloudflare's browser-based Web Analytics measurement does not use analytics cookies or browser storage to identify and follow individual visitors across websites.

Our current RUM configuration is set to exclude visitor measurements from the European Union. This setting does not eliminate ordinary infrastructure or security processing associated with accessing the website.

Important distinction: Cloudflare's browser-based performance analytics and its separate website infrastructure and security services are not the same type of processing.

More information about Cloudflare's privacy practices is available in its Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not depend on analytics cookies for individual cross-site tracking.

However, website infrastructure and security services may use cookies or similar technical mechanisms when necessary to protect the site, detect suspicious requests, or maintain functionality.

StackEvidence does not currently have a separately configured site-wide behavioral advertising or retargeting system.

You can manage or delete cookies using your browser settings. Restricting certain cookies may affect security checks or website functionality.

If we introduce additional affiliate attribution, marketing, advertising, or other tracking technologies, we will review our disclosure and consent obligations before activation and update this policy as appropriate.

5. Email Communications

StackEvidence uses Zoho Mail to send and receive business correspondence.

If you email us, your message and associated information may be processed and stored through Zoho Mail and other providers involved in delivering electronic correspondence.

We may use your contact details to respond to your inquiry or continue a conversation you initiated.

Sending an ordinary business inquiry does not automatically subscribe you to promotional emails.

Current subscription status: StackEvidence does not currently operate an active public newsletter signup system. If one is introduced, we will explain the relevant data collection, consent choices, and unsubscribe procedures.

7. How We Use Information

We use information for legitimate website and business purposes, including:

  • Operating, maintaining, and securing StackEvidence;
  • Delivering website content and maintaining availability;
  • Responding to questions and research corrections;
  • Understanding aggregate usage and technical performance;
  • Detecting and investigating technical or security problems;
  • Maintaining appropriate business correspondence and records;
  • Complying with applicable legal obligations.

Where privacy law requires a particular lawful basis for processing, our activities and obligations will be assessed under the applicable rules.

8. Service Providers and Information Disclosure

StackEvidence relies on third-party providers to support website publishing, infrastructure, analytics, and communications.

Our currently identified service providers include:

  • Cloudflare: website security, delivery, caching, and analytics;
  • PageBuilder/Scale: website publishing infrastructure;
  • Zoho Mail: business email communications.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services, subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.

We may disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal requests, or where reasonably necessary to protect legitimate rights, prevent misuse, or address security incidents.

We do not currently sell visitor personal information or maintain lists of visitors for sale to advertisers or data brokers.

9. Data Retention

We retain correspondence and related information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or meet applicable legal obligations.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose and the applicable circumstances.

Technical request and analytics information processed by our infrastructure providers may be subject to those providers' own retention controls and practices.

You may contact us to request deletion of information under our control. Requests will be evaluated under applicable law and any legitimate retention requirements.

10. Information Security

We take reasonable organizational and technical precautions intended to protect information under our control, including restricting access to business accounts and using established service providers.

No online service, internet transmission, or electronic storage method can guarantee absolute security.

Please avoid sending sensitive identification documents, passwords, payment information, or other sensitive personal information through ordinary email unless necessary and an appropriate secure method has been arranged.

11. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable privacy law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to certain processing.

If you would like to make a privacy-related inquiry or request, email [email protected].

We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Requests will be assessed under applicable law, including any relevant exceptions or retention obligations.

You may also manage cookies and similar browser technologies through your browser settings.

12. International Visitors

StackEvidence is operated from Minnesota, United States, and its content may be accessed internationally.

Information processed by our service providers may be transferred to or handled in countries outside the visitor's place of residence.

Where applicable, international transfers and related processing must comply with relevant data-protection requirements.

13. Children's Privacy

StackEvidence provides software and online-business information for a general business audience. It is not directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy when our website, service providers, business operations, affiliate relationships, or applicable legal obligations change.

The revision date displayed on this page will be updated when material changes are made.

When applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a change, we will address those requirements before implementing the relevant processing.

Our approach

Privacy disclosures should describe what actually happens — not just what a website might do in the future.

As StackEvidence develops new services, email programs, and affiliate relationships, we intend to review the relevant data practices and update our disclosures accordingly.
