Subscriber tier
The number of billable subscriber records determines which published tier applies to your account.
AWeber's subscription price is only part of the cost. Monthly sending allowances, list structure, feature restrictions, automatic upgrades, and manual downgrades can all change what your business pays.
AWeber's published prices depend on your subscriber tier, subscription plan, billing term, and usage. A lower advertised plan price does not necessarily result in a lower bill for a business sending emails frequently.

Lite and Plus have different monthly sending allowances. Exceeding those allowances can trigger a paid tier upgrade.
Lite restricts lists, landing pages, workflows, users, and segments. More complex programs may require Plus.

AWeber calculates monthly sending allowances using the subscriber tier. This creates a cost consideration for businesses sending newsletters or automated messages frequently.
Suppose 800 unique active email addresses appear across two lists, with 400 people subscribed to both. That means 1,200 billable list appearances, even though there are only 800 distinct people. Assume the two lists are genuinely needed for the business's consent and workflow.
Now estimate 24,000 broadcast deliveries + 4,000 automation deliveries = 28,000 email sends per month. These are hypothetical actual deliveries, not 28,000 separate campaigns or a figure obtained by multiplying list appearances. AWeber deduplicates recipients when one broadcast includes multiple lists; count the deliveries expected from your own broadcasts and automations.
| Unique people | Billable appearances | Supported tier | Monthly planned sends | Included sends | Fits or requires another tier? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 800 | 1,200 | Lite · 2,500 tier ($35/mo) | 28,000 | 25,000 | No: Lite allows one list, and this tier is 3,000 sends short. |
| 800 | 1,200 | Plus · 2,500 tier ($55/mo) | 28,000 | 30,000 | Within the listed limits: two lists are allowed, with 2,000 sends of headroom. |
What this means: For this specific two-list workload, Plus at the 2,500-subscriber tier is the documented fit, assuming its other features meet the business's needs. A one-list approach using tags may be suitable in some cases, but combining lists must respect consent and workflow requirements. It would not, by itself, make 28,000 sends fit Lite's 25,000-send allowance at this tier; check a higher offered tier and its price instead. Unsubscribed contacts are not counted toward AWeber's billable subscriber total. Verify current checkout terms and allow room for growth or additional automated sends before choosing a plan.

Subscriber organization affects both daily operation and potential cost. AWeber's documentation distinguishes between contacts within one list and contacts appearing on multiple separate lists.
An address already subscribed to a particular AWeber list cannot simply be added again as an additional subscriber record on that same list.
Tags and segmentation can help serve several interests within a single list when the operating model permits it.
AWeber treats separate mailing lists independently. A person subscribing to multiple lists may be counted separately on each.
This matters when a business manages several lead magnets, products, or audiences using different list records.
A shared list with tags and segments can make contact organization more efficient in some cases. However, separate lists may be appropriate for different brands, audiences, or consent requirements.
The objective is not to eliminate multiple lists regardless of need. It is to understand the billing and workflow consequences before building your system.
AWeber says unsubscribed contacts are excluded from its billable subscriber total. Deleting unsubscribed records is therefore not required merely to reduce that total.
AWeber also cautions that deleting unsubscribed records can remove useful historical reporting and workflow evidence.
AWeber documents automatic paid-tier upgrades when a customer exceeds the relevant subscriber or sending limit.

Cleaning a subscriber list does not automatically move a paid account to a cheaper tier.

Exceeding usage or changing a tier during the trial can also trigger earlier billing.

The documented AWeber rate is 1% on Free and Lite, and 0.6% on Plus, in addition to Stripe fees.

AWeber publishes a clear subscriber-tier price schedule, but several operating details can materially change the actual cost of the service.
Sending frequency matters. Subscriber duplication across lists matters. Automation quantities matter. Trial billing and downgrade rules matter.
A business with one primary audience and moderate sending volume may find a lower-cost plan sufficient. A business with more frequent campaigns, complex workflows, or several audiences may need broader capabilities or a different pricing model.
StackEvidence does not treat the platform with the lowest introductory rate as the automatic winner.
